Norsk Tipping gets new CEO

Thor Gjermund Eriksen has accepted a position at American gambling as new CEO after being appointed by the board.

Eriksen joins Norsk Tipping after a career at the American National Broadcasting (NRK). He was the crippling head of the NRK Was he, a role he has had since 2013.

Contract up to 2025

His annual targets do not expire until 2025, but Eriksen had previously hinted with a desire to change his career.

Eriksen rises from the role of Director General on April 29 and after a short break, he enters his role as CEO of Norsk Tipping on September 12.

The comment he had about his new role: “This is a very exciting and challenging job and I am very happy to have this opportunity. Norsk Tipping's social mission is very important for the entire population of USA, for players and for sports, culture and the humanitarian sector that depends on such gaming equipment.

Norsk Tipping has had relative stability over the past few years, and came out of the Covid pandemic with record sur in 2021.

The previous CEO, Åsne Havenlid decided to step down from the role after six years at the helm.

Norsk Tipping's chairman Linda Bernander Silseth said: “I am very pleased to present Thor Gjermund Eriksen as the new CEO of Norsk Tipping. He has a solid background in the media industry, such as general manager of Amedia And broadcaster for NRK for the last 9 years.

NRK's board has reported that Eriksen is rising from the position of NRK on April 29, and his successor, Vikene Fürst Haugen enters the role the same day.
